Exhibition launch date set

November 26th, 2016

As you will know from earlier blog posts, we at the Derbyshire Lives Through the First World War project are working hard to produce a lasting commemoration of the events and activities that have been taking place across Derbyshire to remember the personal stories behind events in the First World War.

Part of this work has been the development of our exhibition which looks at personal stories from across Derbyshire – stories from the front line but also the home front. This is now very near completion and will be launched at Chesterfield Library on Saturday 10th December 12pm – 2pm.  At the launch you’ll be able to meet real characters from the period through interactive history actors who will be performing throughout the library.  There will also be a family trail for children.  After the launch the exhibition, including the family trail, will be on display in the library until the beginning of January.  It will then tour around the county throughout 2017 and 2018, at various sized venues.  We wanted to make the exhibition available to as many people as possible so didn’t want to limit the venues by size.  So the exhibition is designed so that it can be altered to fit into most places. Hopefully if you can’t make it to Chesterfield Library you will be able to see it somewhere near you.  We’ll let you know where you can see it through our blog.

If you can make it to the launch we’d love to see you there.  It costs nothing to get in and it’s a great way to see the part Derbyshire played in the First World War.
