Ticknall Memorial Map

With a grant of £4500 from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Ticknall Parish Council unveiled The Ticknall Memorial Map in the Village Hall Garden, Ingleby Lane, Ticknall on 2 August 2014. The map shows local footpaths and has a link on it to several local walks in and around Ticknall. The map is dedicated to the 128 men who served in WWI, containing the names of all who served and those who died. It features notable Ticknall buildings which were illustrated by Juliet Boucher, and the map case was designed and crafted by local master blacksmith David Tucker. Incorporated in its design are 19 poppies that represent the 19 Ticknall men who died in The Great War.

An exhibition was also held over the two days in Ticknall Village Hall, exhibiting memorabilia of local men who served in the Great War.  The information and photographs used in the exhibition is held by Ticknall Parish Council, with a copy also at St George’s Church, making the information available for anyone to see at any time.
